Andrea Cano is a Board member of the United Church of Christ’s historic media justice arm, the Office of Communication (OC), Inc. Since 1959, OC, Inc. has been a leading advocate on FCC-related public policy issues on behalf of the 1.2-million member United Church of Christ.
She has served the United Church of Christ in various capacities. From 2000 to 2002, she directed the UCC's Microradio Implementation Project to promote low power FM radio. She is a former newspaper and television reporter and a Robert F. Kennedy Fellow assigned to accompany the creation of the California Chicano News Media Association in 1976.
She has also served as a missionary for the Common Global Ministry to Ecuador (Latin American Council of Churches) and Mexico, as a regional organizer for the Justice and Peace action network in the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministry program, as an exploration minister for Hispanic ministries and church development for the UCC's Central Pacific Conference, and as Executive Director of the Oregon Farm Worker Ministry.
She currently serves on the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission in Portland, Oregon and is a member of the Oregon Alliance to Reform Media.
