Michael D. Watson is art director for The Lutheran, the magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, a role in which he has served for 14 years. He is responsible for the layout and production of each issue. He is also responsible for the photography in each issue, whether he is taking the photos himself or hiring it to be done. In his free time Michael runs a wedding and portrait freelance business called Watson Art Studio.

The BYOC (Bring Your Own Camera) Workshop

You know when you have to take that photo of the faith leader, and you find the nearest wall to take the photo? Well, we won’t be doing that today! You will learn how to take better portraits with any camera you are currently using. You will learn how to use available light, simple reflectors and flash. Be ready for tips, tricks and fun — and bring your own camera. This will be a hands on workshop. No slideshows or lectures. You are going to learn by doing.
